The Center for Information and Study on Participation in Clinical Research (CISCRP), a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging the public and patients as partners in the clinical research process, has announced the upcoming launch of AWARENESS for everyone 2021 – a free virtual series of events designed to educate the general public about research and participation in clinical trials. For the second year of the series, CISCRP will host five regional hosts AWARENESS for everyone Virtual events across the country from April to November 2021 with an emphasis on engaging diverse communities to ensure representative and inclusive clinical research for the future.
Supported by local research teams, stakeholders and members of the AWARE Industry Consortium (AIC), each regionally AWARENESS for everyone The 2021 event will focus on selected medical conditions and therapeutic areas, including but not limited to COVID-19, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and asthma. The events offer attendees a 90-minute, user-friendly webinar led by medical professionals, short informational videos to help attendees better understand the process and importance of clinical research, facilitated conversations with real patients in which they share their experiences with clinical trials exchange; and five minute rest from exercise to encourage healthy habits.
Attendees can also visit an online information exhibition center that contains clinical research and health resources that are free to access throughout the event. The information center for each event includes exhibits presented by AIC members including Genentech, Janssen, Otsuka, Pfizer, Biogen, IQVIA, Novartis, CSL Behring, EMD Serono and WCG, as well as local advocacy organizations. Participants can expect a “traditional” event booth experience in digital format with one-on-one meetings with company representatives, interactive information security and digital downloads.
“When we go into our second year with AWARENESS for everyone In 2021, we were able to expand to even more communities in the US and bring awareness to clinical research on locally common conditions and therapeutic areas – all of which are currently the focus of clinical research and require a diverse patient population, ”said Phyllis Kaplan, senior manager for Events and community engagement at CISCRP. “Through this series of events, we hope to give attendees a front-row seat to learn not only what clinical trials are, but what clinical research could mean for the entire community and possibly for themselves if they did Strive for the best possible treatment. ”

- AWARE for the entire Northeast (Boston; New York; Washington, DC; Hartford / New Haven, Conn.; Baltimore) on Thursday, April 15, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EDT.
- AWARE for the entire Northwest (Seattle; Portland, Ore; San Francisco; Boise, Idaho; Billings, Mont.) Thursday, May 20, 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. MDT.
- AWARE for the entire Midwest (Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; Detroit; Indianapolis; Minneapolis) on Thursday, July 22nd, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. CDT.
- AWARE for the entire Southwest (Los Angeles; Dallas / Houston; Phoenix; Denver; Las Vegas) on Thursday, October 21, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. MST.
- AWARE for the entire Southeast (Nashville; Charleston, SC; Atlanta; Charlotte, NC; Jacksonville, Florida) on Thursday, November 18, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST.
