Biomedarticles was just hosting a small virtual meeting with Detroit startups and venture capitals. Like the one we held in Miami last month, the event was a blast and included a chat with two local VCs about what startups are doing in Detroit and how to raise money from local investors.
In case you missed it, you can find the video of this talk below. Jonathon Triest from Ludlow Ventures and Patti Glaza from Invest Detroit Ventures spoke at length about the diverse types of startups that call Detroit home. They point to Bloomscape (houseplants), StockX (sneakers) to the numerous medical and safety startups in Detroit, near Ann Arbor and the surrounding subway region. Both companies invest in early-stage startups, but in radically different ways.
The 20-minute conversation covers the types of founders that can thrive in Detroit and other areas of the Midwest.
This event was part of Biomedarticles’s growing line of City Spotlights, in which we focus on a growing startup ecosystem and highlight what makes the area attractive to startups. We’re going to Pittsburgh next and hope you can join us.
